What a Week!!

So we had our shares of ups and downs this week. It all started on Tuesday. Lyle, got a call from Speedway wanting him to come in for orientation. Yay, he had an interview like three weeks ago, he was looking to get a second job to help with Christmas money and other stuff. Well that happened at about 10 a.m. and at 11a.m. when he is changing to leave work his boss hands him lay-off papers. Great, so much for a second job! He was not the only one to get laid-off, just the only one in his underwear. lol This was not a surprise to us at all we have known for about a month that from Thanksgiving to the first of the year they would more than likely be laying almost everyone off. It just came a couple of weeks early.

On Wednesday I brought Bryce to see the surgeon for his knee. They took three more x-rays. Then the doctor came in and asked a few questions of Bryce about how it is feeling and if he is walking ok. Then he had him take off his brace and had him walk around the room. Next, he popped the x-ray up in the light panel and says "Well, I think we are all set". What a relief! He goes on to say that everything looks great and that Bryce seems to be doing very well. So he only needs to go back to see him if any problem with that knee arise. Woo Hoo!!!

Thursday, Lyle spent the day in orientation for his new job. On the way home he stopped at the store he will be working at to give them the paperwork they need. And in talking with his manager she tells him that since the other workers don't want the hours she is going to give him full-time hours. Also, rather than his first day being Monday she wants him to start tomorrow. That's awesome! I just feel so much safer with him having a job. Even though he can get unemployment, which he can still get but it will be under- employment because he is making like $5 an hour less.

The boys also had conferences on Thursday. They are both doing fantastic. We learned that Bryce is the "Token Boy" in his class. All of the girls want to be with him. Are you kidding me that is such a change from last year were he seemed to have no friends. And Chase still has his struggles but oh my gosh, he has 100% for his spelling grade. Again such a change last year we were lucky if he got 2 words right on his test each week. So all and all we were extremely pleased with the report cards.

Friday, Lyle started the new job. He work 1st shift hours for training but, normally he will be 3rd shift so he will be home during the day with me and the kids. I am so looking forward to this so I don't have to bundle the little ones up and drag them out in the freezing cold Michigan winter to pick Parker and Jesse up from school.

Another cool thing happened on Friday, Lilly kept standing up from the sit-down position in the middle of the floor. So she was just standing in the middle of the living room like what do I do now? Walking is getting closer and closer every day.

Today she took two steps away from the Leap Frog toy. I can't believe she is going to be one next week. I have been trying to get some pictures of her this week but she has been less than happy to cooperate for them. So I will just keep trying everytime I get a chance.

Here we go!

Well, I am very new to this whole blogging thing, but thought I would give it a try.

This weekend we were a very busy family. Friday of course was Halloween. So, as soon as Lyle got home from work, I ran out the door and raced to the older boys school. I started off in Parker's room since his is closet to the door. They were enjoying snacks. I took a few pictures and then Janelle and I ran off to Chases class. They were in the process of finishing snack and playing games. The pumpkin cakes the I made for his class was not a huge hit, but they had tons of food. One mom really loved it so I sent it home with her. Off to Bryce's class. They had tons of parents running around giving the kids all sorts of treats. The cake was a much bigger hit in his room, they totally wiped it out. I was totally amazed at all the parents working in the rooms. So different from when we were kids. After we got home from school we enjoyed lunch. Then it was nap time for the little ones. We had got a couple of pumpkins for the older kids so we spent time removing the guts and carving away. Out of that we got three funky looking pumpkins. The boys all thought they were great. From there it was time to go have cider and doughnuts at the community room. It was nice visiting with all the elderly people that live in the community. So then it was off to my sisters to eat pizza and have the guys take the boys out trick or treating. While my mom, Janelle, Lilly, and I stayed there to hand out candy. The weather was sooo beautiful that Janelle and I sat on the front porch to greet all the little monsters.

Saturday was the first of November and would you believe it was 60 degrees out. We loaded up and headed out to a gorgeous park in Grandville and took some wonderful family pictures. We needed some updated ones since the boys haven't had them done for about a year. And Lilly is going to be a year old in 2 weeks so she was due for new ones too. I was so pleased with how they all turned out. We were even able to get ones of the whole family because a group of girls walked by and offered to take some. They were even able to get Gavin and Lilly's attention. Thanks girls!

In the evening we went our separate ways! I enjoyed a girls night at my moms house for a Stamp It Up! party. While Grandma and Grandpa Berzley watched Gavin and Lilly. So Lyle could take Bryce and Chase to see a movie. They were all sleeping when I got home at 9:30p.m. So I didn't find out until the next morning that they really liked it. Chase even sat though the whole movie without needing a potty break.

Sunday, I was left to sleep in a bit. Lyle got up and made breakfast with Bryce. So when I got up it was almost done. It was very good! Then I ran to Walmart to pick up the pictures that I was so excited to see. They all really turned out great and I was excited to get them up and put away the Halloween decorations. Mom called just as I finished and called for us to come help clean up the leaves that had fallen since Thursday. We got that all done after a couple of hours. Not too bad considering how it looked.

Now to the start of another busy week with conferences and a visit to the surgeon for Bryce.
